COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State got a commitment from four-star defensive end Zahir Mathis on Wednesday, further adding to a 2025 recruiting class that is off to as good as a start as can realistically be expected at this point on the recruiting calendar. Mathis, the No. 37 overall player in the country per 247Sports, is rated as the No. 5 edge player and the No. 1 player in the state of Pennsylvania. He chose the Buckeyes over South Carolina, Florida State, Tennessee and Texas. At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, the borderline five-star talent has a massive frame in which to grow before his senior season begins, and before he arrives on campus at Ohio State in as little as a year.
