Ohio State football veteran safety putting off NFL for fifth season with Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Lathan Ransom’s Ohio State football career keeps alternating tangible progress with frustrating obstacles. With the decision to return for 2024, the two-year starting safety takes a final shot at closing his career the way he intended. Ransom announced Friday via Instagram he will not enter April’s NFL Draft. “It’s not easy to leave a team. It’s much harder to leave a brotherhood,” Ransom wrote. “This football program and this University mean too much to me, and we have unfinished business.” The news carries massive repercussions for Ohio State’s secondary, which has lost several support pieces to the transfer portal since the end of the regular season.
