COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ryan Day’s plan to stack highly ranked quarterback prospects in every Ohio State football recruiting class always carried the risk of a boomerang effect. Inevitably, attrition to the transfer portal would occur fairly regularly. Eventually, one of those quarterbacks would take over as the starter for some Big Ten Conference rival who could upgrade the position off of the Buckeyes’ excess. Nebraska reportedly became one of the first teams to meet with Kyle McCord on Tuesday after this Buckeyes’ former starter entered his name in the portal on Monday. The Cornhuskers, who visit Ohio Stadium next Oct. 26, desperately need an upgrade after fielding perhaps the Big Ten’s worst passing offense this side of Iowa.
