Ohio State’s red zone defense is making a major impact in key spots: Buckeye Bits


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s run defense wasn’t up to snuff against Rutgers — or, at least, in the 90 yards prior to its own end zone. Rutgers, despite rushing for 232 yards as a team on 43 carries (5.4 yards per attempt), found itself stymied by a Buckeye defense that didn’t let promising drives turn into seven points. The 35-16 win for Ohio State was, at one time, a 9-7 deficit, and it could’ve been a bigger one had it not have been for the red zone stands by the defense.
