Ryan Day talks Ohio State’s grind-it-out style, run game improvements and more: Quick Hits


PISCATAWAY, New Jersey — It was easy for Ohio State coach Ryan Day to fall into the cliche, but it’s true: The Buckeyes just win games, no matter how the job gets done. “These have been physical weeks,” Day said. “Our guys are playing hard, playing physical, and we’re playing good football down the stretch. We’re wearing teams down in the second half — but certainly we’d like to play better in the first half as a team.” Ohio State won 35-16 on Saturday against Rutgers in, once again, a grind-it-out type of game that wasn’t decided until the fourth quarter. But throughout the season, that’s how the Buckeyes have done business.
