Derek McCord’s ties with his alma mater run deep. The former Rutgers quarterback met his wife Stacy during his modest playing career at the school in the late 80?s and early 90?s, then passed down the tools he picked up to their two football-obsessed sons. He experienced “some of the best nights of my life” on the sidelines at Rutgers Stadium, where he watched the Scarlet Knights pull off historic upsets over No. 3 Louisville in 2006 and No. 2 South Florida in 2007, two of the many games he attended in Piscataway over the past three decades.
