Ohio State’s spot in first College Football Playoff rankings revealed


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State was ranked No. 1 by the College Football Playoff selection committee on Tuesday night, the first iteration of the rankings this season. The Buckeyes (8-0) have four games left in their season, and have already garnered wins over some notable teams in the process. The committee clearly took the Buckeyes’ victories over Top 10 teams (at the time) in Notre Dame (on the road) and Penn State to heart, and rewarded them as as a result. In terms purely of resume, the Buckeyes had the strongest case as of Halloween, per the committee, with the victories they’ve had so far this season. The top six was as follows, from No. 6 to No. 1: Oregon, Washington, Florida State, Michigan, Georgia and Ohio State.
