Ohio State football starting safety’s injury status remains uncertain


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s evaluation of safety Lathan Ransom’s injury status will continue this week. Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said the team may have an update on Lathan Ransom’s availability later this week. The fourth-year safety and second-year starter suffered an apparent non-contact, lower-leg injury in the fourth quarter of last Saturday’s win at Wisconsin. Ransom hopped to the sideline in obvious pain, then was transported to the locker room by cart and wheelchair. However, he returned to the field later in the quarter under his own power and even appeared to be testing the injury for a possible return. “We’re figuring out the timeline on that,” Day said of the severity of Ransom’s injury.
