Penn State’s James Franklin says he has a ‘coach crush’ on an Ohio State linebacker: Buckeye Breakfast


COLUMBUS, Ohio — While running down the list of Ohio State players who sit high on the scouting report, Penn State football coach James Franklin used an interesting way to describe his appreciation for one of the Buckeyes. “A guy that I’ve got like a ‘coach crush’ on is No. 35,” Franklin said. “Tommy Eichenberg is just a really good football player. He’s fun to watch. Physically he can make the plays.” Eichenberg has become a pivotal part of the Buckeyes’ defense over the past two years. He locked down the starting Mike linebacker role last season on his way to recording 120 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass breakups and even a pick-six.
