WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Kyle McCord and Devin Brown engaged in a nine-month quarterback competition to determine Ohio State football’s starter. McCord won that job and became the full-time starter for Game 3. The Buckeyes showed Saturday at Purdue there is still a role for Brown. McCord drove inside the 15 for the Buckeyes’ second red zone possession of the first quarter. On third-and-1 at the Buckeye 13, Brown subbed in and ran a keeper around the left side for 8 yards. Two plays later, he kept it himself for a 2-yard touchdown plunge and a 13-0 lead. It was the first rushing touchdown for an OSU quarterback since Justin Fields (two) and C.J.
