Kyle McCord thinks Ohio State has a ‘scary good’ freshman who’s patiently waiting his turn: Buckeye Breakfast


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Add Ohio State’s starting quarterback to the list of people who are excited about Carnell Tate’s future. Kyle McCord got asked about the player who caught his only touchdown pass during the 2023 Spring Game. Just as his high school teammate and top target Marvin Harrison Jr. once did, McCord didn’t mince words about the potential of the freshman receiver. “Carnell’s been ready since the day he got here,” Tate said. “He was extremely polished. Obviously spending the last eight months with Coach (Brian) Hartline and Coach (Ryan) Day shaping up his game, he’s gonna be scary good.” So far this season Tate’s role has been limited to just 62 snaps catching five passes for 83 yards and a touchdown as a guy learning behind Harrison, Emeka Egbuka and Julian Fleming.
