Ohio State football’s opponent Saturday features a former starter in the Buckeyes’ secondary


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State will use its 2023 football home opener to face its first Football Championship Subdivision opponent in 10 years when it hosts Youngstown State on Saturday. The last time the Buckeyes faced a program from that level was during the Urban Meyer era in 2013, when it beat Florida A&M 76-0 at home. The only other games that have happened in the past 25 years were facing the Penguins in back-to-back seasons in 2007 and 2008, resulting in 38-6 and 43-0 wins. More than likely, Saturday’s matchup will have a similar outcome. But this is an opportunity for some players on the opposing roster to make some quality film.
