COLUMBUS, Ohio — The world awaits Ohio State football coach Ryan Day’s decision on which quarterback will start the season opener at Indiana. The last time he made that declaration, C.J. Stroud became a back-to-back Heisman Trophy finalist. The start of that 2021 season keeps coming up in Day’s insistence that this team needs to better set Kyle McCord or Devin Brown up to win than it did Stroud. When discussing the holistic performance necessary to support the quarterback, Day did not cite lessons learned from the last two Michigan losses. He did not revisit last season’s one-point Peach Bowl playoff semifinal loss to Georgia.
