That included Sophie Jaques, the first Buckeye hockey player and just the second defenseman to win the sport’s highest individual honor, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, which she did in 2023. She played a key role in helping OSU earn their first national title in 2022 and got them back to the title game this past season. A 2022 Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion with Team Canada, Emma Maltais graduated as the top point scorer in the history of Ohio State women’s hockey.
