Ohio State greats Sophie Jaques, Adelaide Aquilla in Buckeyes' latest graduating class

Staff reports  |  Columbus Dispatch Among the 47 current and former Ohio State athletes to receive their degrees at Sunday’s summer commencement ceremony were a handful likely destined for the school’s hall of fame. That included Sophie Jaques, the first Buckeye hockey player and just the second defenseman to win the sport’s highest individual honor, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, which she did in 2023. She played a key role in helping OSU earn their first national title in 2022 and got them back to the title game this past season.   A 2022 Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion with Team Canada, Emma Maltais graduated as the top point scorer in the history of Ohio State women’s hockey.  And Adelaide Aquillaleft her mark as the NCAA’s record holder in outdoor shot put.
