“Devastating” Defeats to Michigan And Georgia Serving As “Motivating Factor” For Ryan Day and Ohio State in 2023

Ryan Day found himself swimming in uncharted waters at the end of the 2022 season. The Buckeye head coach had already suffered a rivalry loss to Michigan a year prior, and a College Football Playoff loss was nothing new, either. Before the Peach Bowl, Ohio State previously came up short in two CFP contests during Day’s tenure. But never before as head coach of the Buckeyes, nor at any point since he joined Ohio State’s coaching staff in 2017, had Day experienced back-to-back defeats.
