Michigan upends Ohio State, Nebraska deep again in Big Ten media preseason poll

Michigan bested Ohio State on the football field the last two seasons. Now the Wolverines have done something even rarer: Bumped the Buckeyes from atop the Big Ten preseason poll. Coach Jim Harbaugh’s team claimed the last two league titles and is the clear choice for a three-peat as seen by 37 voting media members in a survey conducted by the Cleveland Plain Dealer released Tuesday. OSU – reloading at multiple key spots including quarterback – had been tabbed the favorite in seven of the last eight polls. The tally was close, with UM (248 points) accumulating 27 first-place votes while the Buckeyes (226) had eight. Penn State (192) collected two. Nebraska is projected to finish fifth in the West Division after placing no higher than that for six consecutive seasons.
