Isaiah Coupet was not the only Ohio State player to be selected in the 2023 MLB draft. Ohio State right-handed pitcher Josh Timmerman and outfielder Kade Kern were each selected in the late rounds of the 2023 MLB draft. Timmerman was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the draft with the No. 482 overall pick. Kern was selected with the No. 519 overall pick in the 17th round by the Atlanta Braves. Timmerman and Kern are Ohio State’s 10th and 11th draft picks since 2020. Timmerman, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound Blacklick native, played his first two seasons at Wabash Valley Community College before joining the Buckeyes, appearing in 13 games last season as a junior.
