Brian Hartline’s biggest recruiting win of Ohio State’s offseason may have been his old coach

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Brian Hartline made another big recruiting impact for Ohio State football this offseason, though this particular prospect definitely will not be a first-round NFL Draft pick. Joe Philbin’s playing career ended with one season at Washington & Jefferson College in the early 1980s. Hartline reached out to his former head coach with the Miami Dolphins because of what he could bring to the Buckeyes’ offensive brain trust. That inquiry started a process which led to the longtime NFL coach joining OSU as an offensive analyst.
