Ohio State football has an unusual scheduling wrinkle for The Game for the first time in 26 years


COLUMBUS, Ohio — The last time the Ohio State basketball team played on the day of The Game, nobody showed. Well, almost nobody. On Nov. 22, 1997, the Ohio State basketball team hosted Robert Morris in St. John Arena. The announced attendance was 8,483, but the reality, according to stories from the game, wasn’t close to that. Why? Because No. 4 Ohio State football was in Ann Arbor that day, rallying in the fourth quarter against undefeated No. 1 Michigan. The Buckeyes fell short in a 20-14 loss that wasn’t over until a fourth-down incompletion on a pass attempt from Joe Germaine to David Boston with 42 seconds left.
