Michigan’s baseball team entered its final series of the regular season with a shot at winning the Big Ten crown. Instead, it will open the conference tournament as the sixth seed after getting swept by Ohio State in a three-game series. The Wolverines (26-26, 13-11 Big Ten), who entered the week tied for fourth in the conference, struggled on the mound all series, losing 7-3 Thursday, 9-5 Friday and 7-2 Saturday. They open the double-elimination Big Ten Tournament against No. 3 seed Iowa (39-13, 15-8) at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Omaha, Nebraska. The Buckeyes (31-25, 9-15) did not qualify for the eight-team tournament but gave Michigan a tougher path to the championship.
