COLUMBUS, Ohio — Did last season’s final two games bring clarity to Ohio State football coach Ryan Day’s progress, or create more ambiguity? The was no progress hiding within a second consecutive loss to Michigan. Instead, that setback reverberated deep into the program and triggered months worth of changes and adjustments. At the same time, a toe-to-toe loss to eventual repeat national champion Georgia proved the Buckeyes have not slipped from the standard Day inherited four-plus years ago. It took Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart six seasons to win his first national championship. He only made the playoffs once in his first five.
