Amongst Buckeyes fans, former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones is best remembered for winning the 2014 national championship. But for the rest of America, we remember his viral “we ain’t come to play SCHOOL” tweet. Jones’ tweet, posted in 2012, sparked controversy and conversation as it bluntly expressed his perspective on the relationship between academics and football: “Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain’t come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS.” Recently, it came to light that former Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett had not obtained a degree despite spending six years enrolled in college.
