Check out the Ohio-themed songs that will be played in the Buckeye State’s new rest areas

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Road trips call for a good music playlist. And Ohio Department of Transportation Director Jack Marchbanks has one ready to go for motorists who stop at state rest areas. Marchbanks, who hosts a weekly radio jazz show in Columbus, has handpicked a list of 33 Ohio-related songs to play through speakers at highway rest stops around the state. It’s part of an initiative by Gov. Mike DeWine’s administration to revamp rest areas in ways that tout Ohio to travelers. Some of the songs are from Ohio musicians, such as Cleveland’s Tracy Chapman (“Give Me One Reason”, “Fast Car”), Akron’s Devo (“Whip It”) and the Black Keys (“Lonely Boy”), Steubenville native Dean Martin (“That’s Amore”), and Columbus’ Twenty One Pilots (“Ride”). Other songs are about various parts of the Buckeye State (Bruce Springsteen’s “Youngstown,” “Cleveland Rocks” by the Presidents of the United States of America). And some have inexorable links…
