In the hallway outside Ohio State men’s volleyball team’s locker room at the Covelli Center is a shrine dedicated to the Buckeyes’ three national championships, listing the rosters and schedules for the 2011, 2016 and 2017 teams. Whenever Jacob Pasteur looks at each plaque before taking the court, he notices something missing. While each match score is listed, each set score is absent. “It could say 3-0, but you don’t know if those were 35-32 (in) all three sets,” said Pasteur, Ohio State’s junior outside hitter and MIVA Volleyball Player of the Year. “It’s never going to tell the whole story.” Ohio State’s story in 2023 has not been a fairy tale.
