As Tanner Holden departs, five thoughts on Ohio State's present and future

A month and a half after the season ended, Ohio State’s roster for 2023-24 is nearing its final form. Wednesday afternoon, a widely anticipated domino fell into place when Tanner Holden, a transfer from Wright State, opted to enter the transfer portal after one season as a lightly used reserve for the Buckeyes. Holden is the second player to enter the portal from the 2022-23 roster and is likely the last. He joins Gene Brown III, a wing who averaged 2.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 77 games during the last three years for the Buckeyes. In their places, Ohio State has added commitments from veteran transfers Jamison Battle, a forward from Minnesota, and Dale Bonner, a guard from Baylor.
