Ohio State Legend Archie Griffin Scores Touchdown at Buckeyes Spring Game

© Provided by Sports Illustrated Archie Griffin racked up 26 touchdowns on the ground for Ohio State from 1972-75, winning two Heisman Trophies in one of college football’s most distinguished careers. On Saturday, 48 years after leaving Columbus, the College Football Hall of Famer added one more. The Buckeyes gave Griffin a token carry in the third quarter of their spring game, and he responded by ripping off a 25-yard touchdown run to an ovation from 75,122 attendees. In the jovial spirit of spring football, coach Ryan Day’s team counted the touchdown, and the Scarlet team cut the Gray team’s lead to 34-17. Griffin remains the only player ever to win the Heisman Trophy twice. His 5,589 rushing yards remain a program record, and rank third in Big Ten history and 10th in FBS history.
