Ohio State football great Archie Griffin runs for a touchdown in the Buckeyes’ spring game

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nearly fifty years after the first of his back-to-back Heisman Trophy seasons, Ohio State football great Archie Griffin found the end zone inside Ohio Stadium again on Saturday. Griffin entered in the third quarter of the Buckeyes’ Spring Game to join the first-team offense. He wore his signature No. 45 on a black jersey. On second-and-14 at the 25-yard-line, Griffin took the handoff from Kyle McCord. He got to the edge and the defense deferred to the legend as he trotted into the end zone. Recommended Buckeyes stories The score counted, cutting the Scarlet (defense) lead to 34-17. Griffin rushed for 1,695 yards and 12 touchdowns in 1974 to win the Heisman Trophy.
