For a program with expectations as lofty as Ohio State, the past few seasons have undoubtedly been frustrating. The Buckeyes have gone 22-4 since the start of the 2021 season, but have failed to defeat Michigan or win a Big Ten title during that stretch. It’s the longest Ohio State has gone without beating their arch rival since the turn of the century. Rightfully or not, head coach Ryan Day has taken the brunt of criticism for the Buckeyes recent stretch of disappointing play. But while some fans have called for Day’s job, Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith doesn’t seem ready to go that far.
