COLUMBUS, Ohio — James Laurinaitis is not yet technically in charge Ohio State’s linebacker room, but it’s only a matter of time before he is and he’s already gotten started on what the benefits of being such could be. He’s a former Buckeye that was a three-time All-American linebacker under Jim Tressel who then went onto have an NFL career and now he’s back in Columbus as a graduate assistant with endless possibilities. He’s right where Brian Hartline was in 2017 when he joined Urban Meyer’s staff as a graduate assistant. A year later he was handed the wide receiver room in an interim role, helping pave the way for a record-setting 2018 before Ryan Day gave him the job full-time in 2019.
