How does Minnesota transfer Jamison Battle's commitment impact Ohio State?

Ohio State landed a primary target in the transfer portal Thursday when Minnesota’s Jamison Battle announced his commitment to the Buckeyes. A graduate transfer who spent the last two seasons with the Golden Gophers, Battle was a consensus top-20 national transfer who addresses a position of need as coach Chris Holtmann enters his seventh season with the program. He joins the Buckeyes with 103 career games under his belt, the majority of which have been at the high-major level. Battle was an unranked prospect in the 247Sports.com composite database out of high school and signed with George Washington in the 2019 class. He averaged 13.5 points and 5.2 assists in two seasons with the Colonials before transferring to Minnesota to play for newly hired coach Ben Johnson.
