What Eugene Brown entering the transfer portal means for Ohio State basketball


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s basketball team has experienced its first true attrition following the 2022-23 season with Eugene Brown III announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal. Brown arrived in 2020 as a player capable of developing into a quality 3-and-D wing player for the Buckeyes, but that never really materialized after three seasons. In 77 games — 11 being starts — he averaged 2.2 points and 1.7 rebounds on 43.8% from the field and 27.6% from 3-point range. He also reached double-figure scoring just three times with his career-high (14 points) coming in an 83-37 win over IUPUI during the 2021-22 season. He joins Brice Sensabaugh — who declared for the NBA Draft — as players to exit the program this season, though Sensabaugh’s decision is not yet permanent as he’s held on the option of returning after going through the draft process.
