Ohio State spring football defense observations: Buckeye cornerbacks getting physical


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s cornerbacks need a more physical, assured performance this fall, and they appear to be working towards that goal this spring. The physical changes alone — Denzel Burke’s development, adding transfer Davison Igbinosun — will help. In the Tuesday morning practice window open to reporters, secondary coach Tim Walton also led the cornerbacks through a tackling drill that emphasized turning the ball carrier and taking him down after contact. Ohio State coach Ryan Day announced in the pre-practice huddle that Tuesday would not be a winner/loser session. Coming off the competition of Saturday’s scrimmage, Tuesday’s early practice periods re-focused on fundamentals and skill development.
