It was a fun and memorable season for the Ohio State women’s basketball team, but its run in the NCAA Tournament ended on Monday night with a shot at the Final Four on the line. The Buckeyes fell to No. 1 seed Virginia Tech, 84-74. At the end of the day, the Hokies were just too deep and too talented. More than anything, the Hokies were able to solve the riddle that was the Ohio State press, effectively taking the Buckeyes out of their bread-and-butter defensive game plan which everything else runs off of. It was close for a while, including at the half when the Buckeyes went into the locker room down just 48-45 at halftime after a back-and-forth first two quarters that saw the lead change multiple times.
