Ohio State women’s basketball had a program-defining opportunity 30 years in the making and seized it: Doug Lesmerises

COLUMBUS, Ohio — An Ohio State team playing its best ball at the right time, meeting the sport’s dominant team that was just a bit more vulnerable than usual. It’s a moment that a very good program wanting to be great must capitalize upon. In 2014, the OSU football team did it against Alabama. In 2023, the OSU women’s basketball team did it against UConn. That was a comparison I made to Ohio State women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff before the Buckeyes left for Seattle to meet and beat the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday, dominating the program that has defined the sport in a 73-61 win.
