Ohio State football’s Cody Simon is a new man, and the Buckeyes have big plans for him


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Cody Simon feels like a new man this spring in Ohio State football’s linebacker corps. Or at least he feels like the same soul and mind in a fresh body. A year ago at this time, Simon watched the first spring under then-new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles while recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum. That shoulder injury kept him from playing his best even when he played a lot as a 2021 starter. “It’s a whole new body for me,” Simon said. “I’m excited. This is really my first year trying to get back into it and I’m adapting real quick. Really feeling good and 100%.” Eichenberg is now the linebacker watching from the sideline this spring, recovering from his own winter surgery. Knowles said after the first practice that he expects Simon to take advantage of the extra reps and “have a big spring.”…
