Dallan Hayden earns Big Ten honor, emerging as Ohio State’s healthiest running back for the Michigan game


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Dallan Hayden carried the once in the first half of Ohio State football’s 43-30 win over Maryland, and it went for three yards as he quickly spelled TreVeyon Henderson. Then he spent the second half replacing the starting running back on his way to a career-high 146 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries. Doing so makes him the seventh Buckeyes — fourth offensively — to earn a Big Ten weekly honor as its Freshman of the Week. He shares the honor of Freshman of the week with Penn State’s Kaytron Allen. “I just knew I had to be ready when my number’s called,” Hayden said after the game. “They needed me to go in I felt I was ready, and my teammates were very encouraging.
