Ohio State football’s Ryan Turner loses black stripe


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Cornerback Ryan Turner became the latest member of Ohio State football’s 2022 recruiting class to lose his black stripe as it prepares to play Wisconsin on Saturday. The former four-star was an early enrollee arriving as the No. 311 player and No. 37 cornerback in the class. He joins Jyaire Brown as freshman cornerbacks to become “Official Buckeyes,” with Brown losing his black stripe during fall camp. He’s also the second freshman to lose his black stripe since the season started, with wide receiver Kojo Antwi doing so last week. Turner’s stripe removal comes during a week where the depth of a cornerback room already short on numbers is in question. Any potential absences — whether it be Jordan Hancock, Cameron Brown and/or Denzel Burke —would quickly move him, Brown and J.K. Johnson up the depth chart and into more prominent roles this week.
