Does it matter that Ohio State football gave up 21 points to Toledo?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Notre Dame and Arkansas State scored a combined 22 points as the first opponents on Ohio State football’s schedule in what were solid performances by the defense. The Buckeyes limited big plays, for the most part, forced 10 three-and-outs and only one of the 24 times they’d been on the field had they surrendered a touchdown. Then Toledo came to Columbus, poking a hole in some of that perceived improvement. The Rockets scored 21 points on Saturday while racking up 10 big plays. Both of those numbers almost matched what OSU gave up combined the first two weeks. Ohio State scored 77 points, so giving up 21 isn’t really that big of a deal, at least it shouldn’t be.
