Former Cincinnati high school football standouts lead Ohio State to win over Notre Dame


The Ohio State football team opened the 2022 season with a 21-10 win over Notre Dame in Week 1 on Saturday in Columbus. And it wouldn’t have happened without a pair of former Cincinnati area high school football standouts. Trailing 10-7 late in the third quarter, walk-on receiver and former Summit Country Day standout Xavier Johnson, who is buried behind several former 5-star recruits at receiver, hauled in the go-ahead touchdown for the Buckeyes. It was Johnson’s first career touchdown. With a slim lead, Ohio State entered the fourth quarter and handed the game to former Winton Woods star Miyan Williams. The big running back helped the Buckeyes march down the field and give the Buckeyes the deciding 11-point lead. Xavier Johnson was a three-star recruit at Summit County Day Johnson, a graduate, may be a walk-on at Ohio State, but he was a three-star recruit who caught 32 passes…
