COLUMBUS, Ohio — Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman does not yet know if his best offensive lineman will be available for Saturday’s game at Ohio State. Freeman, the former Buckeye linebacker in his first season as head coach, called Jarrett Patterson “questionable” Monday in his weekly press conference. Patterson has been limited by a foot injury in the second half of preseason camp. The preseason second team AP All-American has started 34 games for the Fighting Irish. “He is expected to practice this week and we’ll see how he is closer to game time,” Freeman said. Patterson previously played center for Notre Dame but is expected to move to guard this season. His presence factors heavily in one of Freeman’s keys to Saturday’s game — the ability to run the ball.
