COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football likes doing as many of its official visits during the summer months so that all its attention can be focused on recruiting and the season can be about football. The approach includes one big weekend where the bulk of the top targets come and typically has a significant payoff at some point. That didn’t quite happen this summer and Desmond Umeozulu became the latest example of that with his commitment to South Carolina. The nation’s No. 169 player and No. 20 edge rusher chose the Gamecocks over 35 other schools with the Buckeyes, North Carolina and Pittsburgh also emerging as finalists.
