COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tanner McCalister understands what it’s like going through an install with Jim Knowles and even he’s impressed with how quickly things have progressed now that both are with the Ohio State football program. Knowles stated that he feels the Buckeyes’ defense is about 75 percent installed less than two weeks before the season-opener against Notre Dame. McCalister echoed that idea while also acknowledging the uptick in talent he’s playing with plays a part in why. “Everybody picked it up pretty fast, and it was surprising,” McCalister said. “I remember when Coach Knowles came to Oklahoma State, we didn’t pick it up that fast. But guys have picked it up really fast, and Coach Knowles did a really good job teaching it.
