COLUMBUS, Ohio — Predicting some statistical milestones for the Ohio State Buckeyes this 2022 football season. First-time starter status and a bum throwing shoulder early in the season did not hinder C.J. Stroud from compiling one of the best passing seasons in Ohio State football history in 2021. His 4,435 yards rank second to Dwayne Haskins’ 2018 breakthrough of 4,813. His 44 touchdowns surpassed Justin Fields to rank second behind Haskins’ 50. He twice tied the single-game record with six touchdown passes and became the Buckeyes’ first 500-yard passer with his 573-yard shelling of Utah in the Rose Bowl. Stroud also joined Haskins as the Big Ten’s only 4,000-yard passers for a single season.
