Four years ago, CorMontae Hamilton took a gamble with Ohio State football. The former Whitehaven High School standout took a 24-hour bus ride to a camp in Columbus hoping for a scholarship. Back then, he said, playing at Memphis wasn’t an option. He got the scholarship and played three seasons with the Buckeyes. Now, Hamilton is taking another risk returning home for a fresh start and more playing time. “I just wanted to go somewhere else,” Hamilton said of his college recruitment. “But being away and seeing the progress, being from Memphis, it makes you want to be on this team just so we can continue the uprise. Hometown kids come here to make it even better.” Hamilton, who played 13 games at Ohio State, has turned heads since transferring after the spring.
