COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jack Sawyer is Ohio State football’s most famous Jack, and he may be THE Jack, but that conversation will have to wait. Defensive line coach Larry Johnson identified Sawyer as one of three players most prominently training at the hybrid defensive end/linebacker position in preseason camp. The sophomore defensive end basically admitted Tuesday he and the rest of the Buckeyes are supposed to plead ignorance at any mention of the new position. The lingering question is not necessarily whether OSU will use the Jack.
