Tyler Atkinson showed up to Ohio State football’s first June summer camp and very quickly established himself as the best player on the field. He breezed through position drills with defensive line coach Larry Johnson, then spent the competition periods dominating everyone put in front of him. He looked like a five-star recruit on the rise. His 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame suggested that with a little more growth and the proper physical development, he’d be ready to be a star at the collegiate level.
