Mickey Marotti says Ohio State football’s loss to Michigan forced everybody to ‘look in the mirror’


COLUMBUS, Ohio — You could probably argue that Ohio State football should’ve seen the 42-27 loss to Michigan coming. The list of players who’d actually had any real experience playing in that game — let alone on the roster — was already short. A snowy forecast didn’t cater to what the Buckeyes did best offensively, while all of their defensive flaws were basically the things the Wolverines’ offense was designed to exploit. Everything that needed to go wrong for OSU that day ended its hopes of a fifth-straight Big Ten title and third-straight College Football Playoff berth. It also served as a necessary wake-up call for a program that hadn’t truly lost a rivalry game in almost 20 years. “It’s got everybody’s attention, which is always a good thing,” strength coach Mickey Marotti said.
