What Dylan Raiola’s commitment means to Ohio State football: Buckeyes Recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Before Ryan Day showed up first as Ohio State football’s offensive coordinator in 2017, the program had only ever landed three quarterbacks who were rated as five-stars. Justin Zwick was the first in 2002 spending parts of his career as a starter before Troy Smith eventually beat him out and went on to win the Heisman Trophy. The next didn’t come until 2008 when Terrelle Pryor showed up as the highest-rated player in program history. He’d go on to win multiple Big Ten titles though it’s fair to question whether he was maximized as a player. Then came Braxton Miller in 2011 as the electric playmaker who was always more of an athlete than a quarterback. What took the Buckeyes 10 years to accomplish on the recruiting trail, Day was able to make happen in half that time with three of the last four cycles producing players…
