Led by Emily Hummer, Ohio State Buckeyes tied for eighth in NCAA women's golf regional

Staff reports  |  The Columbus Dispatch The Ohio State women’s golf team played the back nine at 6-over par Monday and tied for eighth at 16-over in the opening round of the NCAA regional at Michigan. Emily Hummer led the Buckeyes by shooting a 1-over 72 and is tied for fifth individually. Alexis Phadungmartvorakul and Faith Choi finished at 4-over on the day and are tied for 32nd. Play continues Tuesday and Wednesday. The top four teams advance to the national tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona, May 20-25. The top two individuals from each region not on one of the advancing teams also will move on to Arizona. The Buckeyes are six shots back of the No. 4 spot and nine shots behind leader Arkansas. Washington and Michigan are tied for second and Virginia and San Jose State are tied for fourth.
