It takes a lot for Josh Proctor not to smile. That’s his natural state. “Always,” the Ohio State safety said. “I’m a happy person. I’m a goofy person.” Proctor didn’t smile for a lot of 2021. What he expected to be a breakthrough season on his way to the NFL was derailed by a season-ending broken leg sustained in the Oregon loss on Sept. 11. It was a gruesome injury. Proctor’s right leg got rolled up in a pile and snapped. “I had a compound fracture,” he said. “My bone actually came out of my leg. Not a lot of people knew that. I didn’t like talking about it. But yeah, it was a pretty serious injury.” The injury was devastating to Ohio State’s defense as well.
